Where do they stand?

On August 30, residents of Phoenix, Tucson, and Prescott will head to the polls to select their leaders for citywide offices. Center for Arizona Policy’s 2011 Voter Guide for the city elections has been published at azvoterguide.com and is available to help residents make the all-important decision of who will lead Arizona’s largest cities in the years to come.

While many candidates have returned our Voter Guide survey, some have not responded. If you see a candidate in your area that has yet to respond, let them know that you want to find out where they stand on these important issues by contacting them on Facebook, Twitter or via email.

Here’s a sample message you can send on Twitter or Facebook:

As a voter, I need to know where you stand. Please fill out @azpolicy’s azvoterguide.com survey: http://bit.ly/p6jft9

*If a candidate does not have a Facebook or Twitter account listed, we were unable to find one under their campaign’s name.

Funny how 80% of this so-called survey isn’t about real issues, just sexuality legislation and non-issues like fireworks enforcement.

Why not include some REAL questions like ‘Would you work to remove the TSA from local airports?’ or ‘Would you resist Federal efforts under the ATF to seize Arizonan guns?’. Or how about, ‘Would you work to actively protect the rights of your constituents under the Constitution and Bill of Rights?’. We’ve seen so much corruption in such a short time, people being arrested on their OWN LAND for calling police nazis, people arrested for having gardens…gardens for heaven’s sake! ATF and DEA corruption at epidemic levels…

And you ask such ‘deep’ questions like should fireworks be against the law.

This is why we get no elected officials of real moral strength, people, because we aren’t asking questions that MATTER in the greater scheme of America, to Arizonans and all Americans.

Shane – appreciate your comment, but I should point out that some of the issues you brought up, local governments don’t have control over. I also think you would also be hard pressed to find a candidate that would respond negatively to “Would you work to actively protect the rights of your constituents under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights?” no matter what they might actually think.

The survey addresses issues that are facing our cities’ candidates today. The fireworks question stems from an ongoing debate that impacts people across our state. However, if there is a question that is not included on the survey that you’d like to see included in future surveys, let us know!
